The Israelites who were brought out of the bondage of Egypt were given a covenant at Mt. Sinai on Pentecost that they were unable to keep. God tells us the fault with that first covenant was the people because they were powerless to obey the Ten Commandments. The New Covenant confirmed by Christ had better promises. The fault of the Mt. Sinai covenant has been solved by God’s people receiving the Holy Spirit—no longer is there an excuse for disobeying the Ten Commandments in the letter or spirit of the law.
